Just An Almost Never Ending.....

Just An Almost Never Ending

Opportunity to cope.  Silly silly expectations with a complete lack of preparation and absence of follow through followed by virginal expectations for fruit from seeds unplanted, not water, or weeded.  So very common.

Do It Anyway

Not much time?  Do it anyway, even if it, is just a couple of words banged out early in he morning or just a push up or two, it keeps the momentum going and growing.  Had two tough I do not want to do this tasks yesterday.  Promised myself I would just get one done and not worry about number two.  One and done, next thing I knew, two was done too.  So, take a step, a deep breath, and smile, enjoy the journey no matter the length or breath.  Okay?

We Can Do Better

With persistence, a little guidance, coaching, study, and doing it, we will improve all along the way.  So that should be enough motivation to take the first step in any direction.  Wouldn't you agree?

I Choose To Be Happy

Yes, I do.  Loaded up with passionate purpose, a growing skill set, and a penchant for getting off my assets, this is good productive and produces JOY along the way.  There is Joy in the Journey, results are nice but it is the ongoing effort that brings personal satisfaction all along the way.  Wouldn't you agree?

Do Something Now

Do Something Now

Okay, so I read Seth Godin's blogg and his link to an amazing article written in Fast Company in 2000.  It boils down to watching, being a spectator rather than a doer.  Not sure when that became so popular, personally it is more fun to plant an herb garden, pick the arugula, put it in a salad, pour on home made salad dressing, and enjoy the fruit of my labor, than go to a restaurant and order.  Am I a dying breed, or is this the start of a let's do it trend?  Time may well tell.

Oh Well

Went out looking at houses.  Saw just two.  Both newer, larger, nicer than mine.  Naturally a bit more expensive as well.  Yet, there is a need to modify and update even these homes.  So it goes sometimes, we can be thankful for where we are, despite hearing criticisms and move right along.  No need to argue yet that too came up.  Not good to trade biting comments, why on earth do I do that?  You hurt me why not just be strong enough to take a deep breath, and smile and simply smile.  Give it some thought and respond rather than attack?

Still Pecking Away

Still pecking away at thinking, meditating, listening learning and taking responsibility for each breath, blink, thought and action.  Another fine day to have a good deep breath with love and laughs to follow.

Dr. James Newcomer, of TCU, from PA

How very lucky for me, one day in the Summer of 1967 to meet the Vice Chancellor of TCU for Academics, James C. Newcomer.  Read this morning that he was born in 1912 and died in August of 2012.  Yes, he lived to be 100 despite being in combat during World War II and being part of freeing Luxembourg.  He taught history, helped shape TCU and helped a lost young man through some trouble times and decisions in the 1960's.  Were it not for him, I would not be at this keyboard peeking away.  When I finally graduated in 1970 he said to me, "This will impact you for the rest of your life."  Dr. Newcomer was a good man, who counseled me, and I am pretty sure helped me when I all but was expelled from TCU for my part in "Spunk" magazine in 1969 and 1970.  We will not see his like again, soon, thank you Dr. Newcomer for your good heart and for making a difference in my life.

Reading The Daily Bread

Been reading "The Daily Bread" for years, they have a radio show which I catch now and then in the morning, either on 100.7 FM "The Word" or 90.9, golly I will have to look up the call letters for 90.9 in Dallas.  (KCBI0).  Had to look it up on the computer, how very odd of me, not to know to whom I was listening and what they were called.  Another early morning lesson.  Not to John Checki be more observant and keep those synaps firing day in and out rather than sleep walk through life.  You can find "The Daily Bread" web site at www.rbc.org.

Proverbs 27:12  A prudent man foresees evil and hides himself;
The simple pass on and are punished.

How often could we keep this in mind and have improved our lives?  Not to worry today has enough troubles of its own not to worry or concern ourselves about yesterday or tomorrow.  Not to worry, or I choose to be happy can work us through from the silliness of worry to rational, productive, helpful, thoughts, or not.

Watching The Movies

Golly, wonder why we don't have lots of good movies to watch on cable.  Just watched two or three, the time could have been better spent.  Lesson learned again.

Getting It Done

Whether it is Dee Elliot and his crew of sheepdogs making keeping us safe, or Pastor Vincent Gaddis preaching The Word, we all have art to make and steps to take.  Oddly I was running an errand at Kroger's, paper towel, non chocolate energy bars for Suzi, bottled water, pineapple (just for fun, nothing like cutting up a fresh pineapple, thank God for the instructions), and of course banana's.  On my way in say an unmistakably homeless guy leaving the store.  He wore a warm looking black leather trench coat (heck, I have one just like that, too) over jeans and another jacket. Yet, he looked disoriented, hungry, thirsty and disoriented.  I finished the shopping, tried cheering up the depressed cash register woman and left the store.  As I was putting the groceries in the trunk I was reminded of the "somebody should do something" commercial or post.  You know you see someone in need, and we just go on down the road, saying someone should do something.

Yes, I walked over to the guy, handed him a bottle of water and an energy bar. He looked up and said, "Thank You."  I replied "God Bless."

Yes, he had a little refreshment, I hit the highlight of the day, doing something for some one who could not do anything for me, but give me the sense of serving others with no thought of anything but doing good and sharing the harvest of life.

Just a rambling thought, that I am sorry to say brings a tear to my eyes, cause I just don't do good nearly often enough.

Have Fun and Be Well.

Posting

Each and every morning and evening it is not my goal to blogg, I simply, blogg, much like breathing, and other perfectly natural habits that are included in life and make it worth living.  Why?  It is simply what a poet/philosopher/think/writer does, and we are told by Seth Godin, to not just make art but to share it as well.  Great lesson in life on all levels.

So, what art will you be making today?  I will be heading down to Austin to see Capri and Cade Patterson to review some concepts, finish up some paperwork, and enjoy seeing them, and the journey from Dallas to SW Austin and back.

Look forward to continuing to make a difference and to do it completely and with passion.

Facebook

My son JJ Checki III lives in Austin, along with his wife Christa, their two little girls and one son.  Years ago JJ started his Facebook account and invited me to join, too.  I did, just to keep up.  My daughter Stephanie lives in Houston, she is married has a daughter and son and Facebook account as well.  Heck, even my brother Ron who lives in Baton Rouge is on Facebook as well.  The point, we can if we choose keep on with eachother on Facebook.  That is the good news.  The oddity?  Seems like a little old many like me is prompted to reach out to make "Friend" requests, okay, but to people who are not even as old as my children and not dressed for anything but the beach.  Wonder how that happened?

Thoughts?

I Get It

You scribble it on down on paper or the keyboard, in time you have a big LOL (laugh out loud) and OMG (Oh My God) realize you better get better soon or it won't matter, because no one and I do mean no one (won) is noticing.  Oddly, that is perfectly okay.  No kidding.

Overcoming

Nick Ekbatani, is one of the good guys, his heart is strong and his purpose set.  Life took a nasty u-turn for him a while back when a taxi made a u-turn, crashed into him, and cost him a leg, and a career in professional football.  His response?  Learn to use this experience for good.  His problem right now?  Side effects from a body wondering why it has so much healing to do, so there is infection to replace the missing leg.  If you pray, here is a fine example of a young man in need of prayer.  If you don't pray, great time to get started.

Oh My God (OMG)

Why get all excited and angry, when instead we can have a good laugh, be productive, think clearly, and simply enjoy the simple pleasure of being alive.  Learning how to tell stories, spell, paint word pictures as clearly as a white capped mountain range complete with blooming Aspen trees, and goats mucking about?  Or we can worry about things we cannot understand or control.  Personally I will enjoy this moment and let the conspirators go over their own cliff. (Just love spell check learned how to spell Aspen and conspirators, never too old to learn something new.)

Whoops, Here, I Go Again

Nice to see James Casella increasing his skills to include social media marketing, and Todd Gibson adding Consulting to his LinkedIn profile.  Two guys with skills and a track record adding to their skills.  Not unlike a guy who likes to write discovering and utilizing blogging day and and day's end.

It Is That Time Again

To not just get started but to continue with the Vision, add in Passion, and look about not for guidance but for counsel, resources, while taking action based on a plan of action, and revisions to that plan along the way.  Now, for a great big smile and an attitude of gratitude.

Whoops

We need to hang in there and keep right on trying, taking a step back and making sure we are doing the job really well.

Is This Important?

An honest if incomplete question.  Then on to urgent, or necessary or just wouldn't it be nice.  Just the other night I listened to my wife complain about our neighborhood, and our home.  We could do better and have more.  Sounded just like what she told me her mom told her dad right up until the time they announced they were getting a divorce.

The irony?  Wonder why we want to make the same mistakes our parents made only in spade?  Not to worry or get in a hurry.

Time to simply take a breath and enjoy the moment, each and every moment.

Finally I Am Warm

Not a good thing to put on our tomb stone, yet, that is what my mother in law wanted.  Luckily we are doing our best to talk her out of it, but for the rest of us Winter is a time, when we all look forward to being warm again, soon.

Write Every Day

What a great idea, eventually there will be something worth reading to go with the writing.  Could be
1.  Know Yourself
2. Learn what you can and can't do.
3. Go beyond the obvious and serve others.
4. Learn to Love.
5. Might even learn how to be lovable.
6. Spread the good news.

It Is Friday

Have we accomplished what we hoped to do this week?  Have we been marketing to attract our ideal right fit clients and customers?  Have we been giving knock it out of the park service to everyone who is willing, interested and able to engage and pay us for what we love to do?  if not we still have the afternoon and evening, not  to mention Saturday to get it done.

Double Dipping

I have been a trusted financial advisor for many years.  Every once in a while the subject of double dipping comes along.  Hard for some not others to understand there is a charge for analysis and advice and a commission for the sale of product.  Not sure why, yet...........................

It is a question worth addressing.  Is advice worth getting?  If it is good based on fact probably if followed.  Is it worth working with the same organization for both the advice and the product and the follow up.  It is a matter of choice.  Not unusual for people with money to get advice and buy product and pay for both, yet it is common for people who have neither no to do either.

Openning The Window

To new adventures in and new and who knows if it is an improving era.  New age today, 65, It is Medicare, Senior Discounts, wonder what flying in an airplane will be like now that I am a senior.  Luckily grandchildren have arrived years ago, and continue to laugh play and grow their own lives.  Children are grown, gone, and raising families, mom is still around, wife sings and writes poems.  The Dallas CPA Society had its annual installation of officers, the Y is raising support, and clients, God bless clients come in to say hi and write checks for services rendered.  Heaters are blasting refreshing warmth, and it is time to get a move on, in every sense of the word.

It's Electric

God bless Thomas Alva Edison, resident of New Jersey in times past.  What an energetic and inventive guy.  Yes, he had help, did not sleep much, but thanks to his vision and persistence, I am enjoying a lovely electric heater under my desk at home.  It is Dallas, snow crunching on the grass, temperatures below freezing the wind cutting through all that is in the way, but we are warm.  Electricity pumps heat out of our gas furnace, up in the attic, other electric heaters spread about our old Stults Road Family Farm House.  Heck we do have a gas powered set of ventless fireplace logs that pump out 48000 BTU's, we are moving right along, but still thankful for the inventor from NJ Thomas Alva Edison, and the guys and gals who have followed up over the years to keep the power flowing and the heat coming. Why Trudge Along?

Why Trudge along when we can have a vision, purpose, plan, take passionate action on all of the above and feel good about what the heck we are doing?  Think of a time or even just a moment when we were prepared, and full of purpose, took the appropriate action, for the right audience, and golly miss molly life worked and worked well.  Hold that feeling and lets consider duplicating it today.

Yet, what if the doctor just told us we have what crippled our dad?  Then what?  Great time to mentor and pass on the torch to the next generation, starting with encouraging notes, hugs and kisses.

Moving Right Along

1.  Eliminate Fear, "My ship will come in over a calm sea."

2. Concentrate on what you want and feel you already have whatever it is you want.

3. "Fear knocked at the door, Faith openned the door, and no one was there."

4.  Eliminate:  3 Words:  (Repeat words you like and want and vision success and Faithful Life)
Change words to reflect words that are used by successful people in life.

"If you don't want it don't say it."

"I can't afford"    eliminate, it is not I can't afford,

5.  Power in silence, sometimes, focus quietly and with God not our family and friends.  Dark silence of soil is where a seed begins to grow.  Keep silence until the results are completed, focus on what you would have done, and act like it is already done.  No need to be influenced by others.

6.  Write the check to pay the bill, let it sit on your desk, your mind will come up with the money in tune with the laws of God, who made and maintains the universe.  Stamp the Invoice "PAID"  Set up electronic payment on the due date, knowing the funds will show up on time.

7.   Be Grateful

8.  Know yourself and what your purpose is in life.

Another Day Worth Living

What the heck does that mean?  Simple, what is our intent for the day?  How will that help us along the way within that path that is our passionate purpose in life.  Not just a wouldn't it be nice step but a purpose that has been building all our lives.  We could discover who and what we are or not.  Personally I prefer knowing to guessing.  Why is that?  Not a big fan of surprises, even pleasant ones.  Grateful for each and every moment, but I am a planning my work and working my plan type.  Yet, much like your life, not a day goes by, when some totally unexpected event does in fact happen.  Sometimes it is a laugh out loud, golly miss molly happy beyond understood blessing that makes no sense yet, we have spent so much time preparing that God said, Okay, now you get a little sip of water, since you have wondered and wandered through the scripture, meditation, and desert of understanding and executing My Plan for your life.  Gee, what a concept.  Sorry to drift right in to preaching along with a little rambling and teaching, but if we seek wisdom, what better source than God?  Can't think of one, can you?

Clocking In

Clocking in, luckily can't remember the last time I had to do that.  Oh? Prefer not to sell my most precious irreplaceable resource, the time of my life by the hour. Now I have no bone to pick for those who buy and/or sell hours, personally I like selling value added service by the assignment.  It is nothing more than a personal choice, which over time has worked well for the clients, and the practitioner.  The side benefit is a constant need to improve spelling, no kidding.

So, what can we do that is worth remembering today?  Hope you get to see friends and family, your favorite team wins the exciting game, the snacks are healthy and tastey, and a good night's sleep from a day well lived follows.

 Be Well.  John

Mind Wondering and Wandering

Mind Wondering and Wandering, as usual while doing the work along the way.  Nothing wrong with that.  Phone meeting or two, a little case preparation, shopped for supplies for the pool, the office, and the kitchen.  Getting better at simply breathing, which at certain times of year can be an accomplishment.

What could be your take away?  Might consider a Bible study with some other guys or gals and make ourselves accountable rather than a student.  Don't strive for striving, but push ahead toward your passion and develop a purpose.

Recurring Themes

Something about January either inspires the heck out of investors and speculators or not.  Right now 2013 there is a holy cow we are still in the game spike moving prices up for God only knows what reason.  Would love to hear from those much smarter than me, why this is happening this time.  Fun to see the numbers (personal accounts) increasing, without falling in love with the digits.

Checking In and Not Out

Wow, how quickly we can drift from moment to moment, only to remember:

1. Have a Vision

2.  Work on it (even a step at a time works over time.)

3. Be Committed and Accountable

4.  Get back up and after it.

5.  Make it fun, be noble and cheerful while we are making our ever improving efforts.

Time To Write

It is simply time to write to make better art and put it out there to connect.  Thanks Seth Godin for the helpful hints and the reminders that we all need to go out and do the work, so we can build up the experience and grow on down the road to finding and improving our voices, writing, pictures, and speeches.  Hope and pray you and yours will do the same.

Happy To Be Here

Are we lucky or what?  Have the chance to dance, sing, laugh, and enjoy the ride.  With time we can listen and learn, muck about, mechanically go through the process, add a little magic, graduate to mastery, then mentor it on down the  road.

Be Happy and Well.

Checking In but not out

Checking in but not out.

Yes, nothing like a Winter cold, luckily RX's are not only available but working even as I type.  Point, when we need help we need to ask for it and get it.  Then follow the directions, and with a little prayer and persistence we have experience and results.  With luck they are the experience and results we desired, with even more luck it is another learning experience.

Observation of the Day: January 2, 2013

Observation of the day, getting started always the toughest part, so let's simply schedule the beginning and do it.  No kidding.  Today completed a couple of quotes for my "Hthvashm" book.  It was fun but now I am taking a little breath of a break from it, about to return to it with more memorable quotes.
